Programming / Service software for the Motorola Radius GM300 It has been pointed out to me that this software only works with the GM300 so I have adjusted the page. After searching for the genuine Motorola program I came across Motorola Radius GM300 Radio Doctor.

This program runs fine under Windows XP and will do all the functions that the genuine Motorola radio service software does. Here is the main screen. You can make your own or just search on Ebay for 'GM300 programming' or make programming interface from below 'at your own risk' GM300 programming connection When looking at the radio here are the numbers As you can see to make the programming interface for your GM300 is very basic. Connection your Motorola GM300 for Echolink or IRLP etc. If you want to use the COS/COR output from your GM300 the COS/COR on pin 8 is (active low).

Attached is the software for programming and aligning the Motorola GM300 radios. This is DOS software and you need a real serial port.

Many interfaces need a COS/COR input that is (active high) at 2 to 5vdc. You can make up a circuit to convert the output from pin 8 or take a COS/COR output from inside the radio that will give you a (active high) output. You will need to access the logic board on the underside of the radio. Remove the front of radio and the bottom cover and lift off the RF shield. See photo below.

I have a Motorola GM300 that I've been trying to reprogram for a while. The radio looks brand new witch has nothing programmed into it, it has never been used. I've downloaded several GM300 programming files none of them have worked the software can't read the radio. I'm assuming that MS-DOS versions won't work for the GM300 that I have however I've not found any windows versions of the software. I came across something in yahoo called Radio Doctor witch is Windows based and apparently runs under XP on a modern computer and it allows you to add more channels to the radio. I've not managed to find any download links for this fantastic software or any further info in regards to where to find the software.

I understand this radio can go up to 40 channels witch is ideal for Amateur use on 70cm witch I plan on using this radio for as a back up radio. I'm really confused as to why none of the GM300 DOS based software will read the codeplug? Do I need to change some jumpers on the radio perhaps? My programming cable isn't the problem as I've used it to program other radios. I've just dug out 2 old laptops from my attic unfortunately none of them are 486's but they are very old. Typically the one that had MS-DOS & Win95 installed has a bad hard drive and the other laptop has no OS installed at all.
