On a side side note, I did grep through the nvram partition dump file, and I could not find my current IMEI.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any further comments you might have!it's right if you haven't data to backup you don't need TWRP your method of backup in theory is right but i'm only afraid about error in readback ranges i don't know where is located NVRAM partition.better will be to dump full rom and after use something like dumpsplitter but i never try it IF you find in your NVRAM partition dump file a reference to MP0B_001 file you have the IMEI that is stored encrypted inside it BUT I continue to prefer TWRP method!:-). When I chose the TWRP recovery and the 8GB scatter file it gave me a checksum error and would not let me proceed. I imagine this is because the TWRP recovery is bigger than the original recovery. I had to root the tablet and flash the recovery using flashify app.
